Handmade Farmhouse Makeover

Hi! I’m Emily, homemaker at our handmade farmhouse. I write about my daily adventures experimenting in the kitchen, DIY home projects, gardening with my family, and intentional, affordable decorating. I believe HOME should be a safe-haven from life’s daily weight and always be the place you want to be most in the world. By learning to decorate with intention, you can transform your home into a unique space that reflects your personality and individual style.

In 2016-2018 my family and I built our own home on nights and weekends to make our dream home a reality. This journey changed us in many ways, and has given us a deep appreciation for quality time together. After 20 long months, we were able to move into our handmade farmhouse. Soon after we started living like a family again. Dreams can come true, if you’re willing to work for them!

4 years have now gone by and I really wanted to finally shift our focus to finishing up our master bedroom space. My desire is to create a space that feels very light, cozy, and relaxing in hopes our room would become a retreat at the end of the day. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with RC Willey, especially after falling in love with their cozy cobblestone sofa, their white linen Zuma bed, and their darling striped upholstered bench. I created a mood board for our bedroom that included these pieces and couldn't wait to get it all put together!

As for the Zuma bed, I was eager to see how it looked in person. The beautiful cream linen has given our room such a cozy feeling. I absolutely love no longer having a bed skirt, the lines of this bed frame are clean and classic.  

The striped bench might be my favorite piece of all (and that's saying A LOT!) I found that this bench has the perfect color of fabric therefore it seems to look good in many rooms in our home. It is so versatile! If you follow along over on Instagram, then you probably saw this REEL I made, showing how many places the bench looks cute in our home. The lid can be removed to use the bench for storage, which is a huge added bonus.
